WEEK TWO

Hi everyone and welcome back to The Greatest Showcase’s journal entries. This place is brought to you by the students of the University of Chester, Warrington Campus to keep you updated on the weekly preparations for the final event which will be hosted on the evening of the 31st May 2018 at 7pm.

But let’s not worry about that too much at the moment as we guess you want to know what we’ve been up to this past week with preparations for the final event. Well, why don’t we lift some of that weight off your shoulders. So, sit back with a nice cup of tea or coffee and we’ll explain what has been going on this past week.

This week is the second week for all the students working on this project to work within their mini groups to create the final event. We have all been working as hard as we possibly can to make sure everything is perfect for the night.

The Photography and Blog group have been busy working on their part of the project. They have been working on creating the blog by adding more content and photographs to it. They have also been taking and editing photographs of both the Radio and the TV groups as they work, capturing the moment in a still shot. They have also been working hard by collecting more content and making sure that the journal entries are to a great standard before posting them online.

The Promotion and Advertising group have also been busy this week. They have clarified with the group on what the front of the brochure will look like as well as them creating the direction signs i.e. arrows and entry signs for the night of the showcase. They have also chosen a number of posters to have feature in a series of print/online campaign. They have also begun to create the inner pages of the brochure by featuring quotes from questions they have asked people.

The Radio and CAT Website team have been on top with their preparations for the final event. They have been working on creating more jingles they can choose between for the evening of the showcase as well as interviewing photography students for the radio show. They have also researched into the top tracks at the moment and how they can incorporate them into the next show as well as researching into the top 10 TV series’ and movies to talk about on the upcoming shows.

The Live Streaming TV Show have been busy with making sure they have booked the studio out for both their rehearsal schedules and for the evening of the show. This week, they have edited, colour graded and adjusted the sound on one of their VTs which involves the advertising students. They have also filmed some cutaways for two different VTs that will possibly be shown on the night of the event. They have also created a menu to show what is going to be in the show.

Finally, the exhibition team have been on their adventures this week. They took a trip to Chester earlier this week to look at some galleries to give them some industry insight on how to display the work which will feature in the exhibition on the night. This week, they have made some advancements within the project by starting a shopping list as well as the map of the exhibition to go in the brochure. They have received some work from students within the media department and are now sorting out which ones they want to showcase within the exhibition. They were hit with some obstacles this week when they were told they wouldn’t be able to use the exhibition room on the night of the showcase due to the 3rd year students using it for their exhibition on the same day. However, they still have managed to sort out where they can still display all the different media subjects and the work situated within it. Over the next week, they will receive more work from students and once it’s all arrived, they will start to prepare the work so it’s ready for the exhibition night.

So, there we have it. Another week has gone and the preparation for The Greatest Showcase are underway. If you want to see what we get up to next week and the coming weeks after that, make sure you tune in to the journal entries.
