WEEK THREE

Hi and welcome back to this week's journal entry. The Greatest Showcase is this year's annual event hosted by second year University of Chester media department students.

Preparations for this year's showcase are now well underway and we can't wait to tell you all about it. So let's start explaining what's been going on this week.

The Photography and Blog have been working really hard to capture the moment for you all to see by taking shots of everyone and showing you all how hard working we all are. They have also been editing and creating the blog website as well as the photos that have been taken. As well as this, they have been researching into the topic chosen for them and how they can use it with their written work. They have also been busy writing the content up for the blog.

The Promotion and Advertising team have been working very hard this past week. The team have been working together on the brochure by adding in students work and text to support it; including quotes from lecturers and students. They have also progressed with the Greatest Showcase website to go along with the blog as well as creating a map of the media centre which will be given to guests on the night of the showcase. They have also been busy with test printing the posters and the brochure to make sure the colours and layout suit the "1920s Art Deco" theme. They have also started to make an animated invitation to send over email to people in the industry and others.

The Radio and CAT Website team have been busy this week by working and creating more jingles for the radio show. They have also been emailing around to the management teams that work for the radio to make sure they could change the set music list to correspond with the theme of that week, which was "The Greatest Artists". They have also been doing some more research into different features to fill the remainder spots in which they will talk for the upcoming weeks. As well as this, they have also been interviewing both students and lecturers of the university to collect quotes they could use within the next show.

The Live Streaming TV Show have also been quite busy this week. They have been helping the Radio team with editing and exporting new clips for the next radio show. They have also started to prepare the technological practices and how they will layout the cameras on set during the event night. They have also been busy with creating and planning crew roles for the main night as well as looking for T-Shirts with the word "CREW" on the back. They have done this by searching the internet until they found one which showed it being a reasonable price as well as a good deal. They have also started to create the presenter scripts ready for the final event.

This week the exhibition team have been busy viewing and critiquing student work. They have selected the artwork to display in the final exhibition by looking at certain criteria; for example if the said pieces of artwork look aesthetically pleasing when they’ve been grouped together. Another area which has been completed is they have retouched and resized all of the photography work which has been received back, so they are now all ready to go to printing. They have also been busy with editing together moving image work; for example film studies and television work which is now all ready to be played on the night of the exhibition. One member of the group has been busy creating the QR code informational mobile site, which will be used to provide the audience with information about the said art pieces which will be displayed. Also, this week, they have been planning a budget list, making sure that the team have all the necessary things for the exhibition and tv show, for example lighting, decorations and catering for the night.

So, there we have it. Another week has gone and the preparation for The Greatest Showcase are underway. If you want to see what we get up to next week and the coming weeks after that, make sure you tune in to the journal entries.
